A Crowning Achievement

Queens, don't drag your feet! Instead, slip them into some high heels; wax away any unwanted gray; and grab your pearls, tiara and blonde bob wig, because PrideFest is fast approaching! To honor the occasion, the Pride St. Louis crew hosts the first annual Pride 2007 Royalty Competition at the Complex (3515 Chouteau Avenue; 314-772-2645), during which the region's finest drag queens will catfight alongside our best drag kings. Appearance is paramount, but candidates will also participate in a talent contest and a rigorous Q&A session. But that's not all! In addition to the king and queen battles royale for the crown 'n' gown, a sing-off will determine who are Mr. and Ms. Pride. Admission to the night of pride costs $5, and the pageant begins at 10 p.m.; an all-you-can-drink special runs until 1 a.m. For more information visit
