A Drifter Accused of Murder 

Who could see that coming?

The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis' production of Agatha Christie's Witness for the Prosecution opens this evening at the Loretto-Hilton Center (130 Edgar Road, Webster Groves). Perhaps best known as the basis for the 1957 Billy Wilder film of the same name, Witness is one of Christie's juiciest twist-fests, full of dubious motives and surprises. After a wealthy woman turns up dead, a drifter is put on trial, and someone close to him just may testify against him. Tickets for tonight's 8 p.m. show are $13 to $43.50 and can be purchased online at or by phone at 314-968-4925; the play runs through Friday, April 14. And consider yourselves warned: Dire consequences await those who spoil the ending for first-timers. Seriously.
