A Love for Life

There is nothing predictable about Bjork. Iceland's pop diva, multi-instrumentalist, activist, visual artist and actress is known for creating musical projects that push the envelope on her own terms. In 2011 she released her eighth studio album, Biophilia, which symbiotically meshed her passions for innovative sounds, modern technology and the natural world. Never one to rest on convention, Bjork then adapted the album into a multi-sensory, performance-art experience consisting of a two-year tour, educational programs and a platform of innovative interactive apps that were recently enshrined in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art. Her latest project is a quasi concert documentary, Biophilia Live, in which directors Peter Strickland and Nick Fenton captured the pixie powerhouse during a 2013 tour stop in London. Onstage Bjork's spasmodic performance converges with electronic blips, hard beats, stunning costumes and snippets of found film footage to form a singular cinematic experience. Biophilia Live plays at 7:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday (October 31 to November 2) at Webster University's Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or Tickets are $4 to $6.
Oct. 31-Nov. 2, 7:30 p.m., 2014
