A Novel Idea

Gettin' loud at the library

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED! The last time you entered the book-lined walls of a public library, some lady gave you the stink eye for one unruly cell-phone ring. Let's face it: The tranquil land of Dewey's decimals isn't used to tolerating much racket. And that's precisely why the High Strung picked libraries to serve as the venues for the group's rock & roll tour. The indie trio from Detroit wants to bring edginess and coolness to the dusty book stacks, such as those in the Central branch of the St. Louis Public Library (1301 Olive Street; 314-241-2288 or www.slpl.org). It'll be the place to be at 2 p.m. when the roar of rock just might rattle the shelves. The concert is free, and audience members can even help the band compose a tune on the spot! THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED!
