Afternoon Delight

Jun 20, 2007 at 4:00 am
Folks around these parts listen to bluegrass music all the time in the big city, and there's something that isn't quite right about that. Since these tunes are of the earth, not concrete, go hear them how you should at the Augusta Bluegrass Afternoon. This shindig is held from 1:30 to 8 p.m. out at Centennial Farms (199 Jackson Street, Augusta; 636-228-4338 or www.centennialfarms.biz), and it features all manner of pickin' and entertainin'. From the Mulhearn Family Band to the junior fiddle jam session, and from the Thunder & Lightning Cloggers to George Portz & His Friends of Bluegrass, you'll get your fill of good ol'-fashioned fun in the shade on your blanket or lawn chair. Admission costs $3 to $8, and sandwiches and drinks are available to purchase. Call the Greater Augusta Chamber of Commerce at 636-228-4005 or visit www.augusta-chamber.org for more information.
