A champion swimmer retires into complete solitude after being accused of using illegal drugs to prepare for the 35-mile Santa Fe swimming marathon in Argentina. Years later he wants to take part in the marathon again, hoping to wipe the slate clean. Meeting a swimmer who is training hard in hopes of being selected for the national team and identifying with this younger counterpart, the former champion asks to be his guide on the boat which accompanies the partipants in the race.
