The final night of this year's An Under Cover Weekend promises to be an intriguing show. The members of LOGOS have the chops to do justice to just about any classic rock act, but they chose to tackle the shuffling, bluesy Texas boogie of ZZ Top. The dark-fringed pop and male-female vocal arrangements of Fractured Army give them firm footing with which to tackle the ambitious synthpop perfection of the Eurythmics, but it's always exciting to see a band go outside of its expected stylistic parameters — and local country-music traditionalists Tenement Ruth will likely do just that while taking on the stripped-down garage rock of the White Stripes. Chapters lead singer Vincent Marks might have enough uninhibited bravado and fearless stage presence to pay homage to Morrissey and Co., as he and his band don their best pouty faces as the Smiths. And finally, the Makeshift Gentlemen will attempt arguably the most daring feat of all as the "fake plastic band" for the evening: It's cherry-picking from Radiohead's challenging and diverse back catalog.
