Andrew Millner: Rose Parade

Andrew Millner debuts his latest body of work, "Rose Parade," at William Shearburn Gallery. Millner’s work explores the relationship between art and nature, the natural and the artificial. "Rose Parade" is inspired by the floats of the Tournament of Roses Parade. Millner photographs his natural subjects first, and then draws each flower or pattern of flowers by hand. He draws with a stylus on a digital tablet, creating a series of digital drawings. For some works, Millner traced the patterns of lines, with layers of thick, viscous acrylic paint extruded through a tool similar to that used in cake decoration.
