Animal House

The log cabin of Ulysses S. Grant, in the same hills roamed by zebras and Highland cows? Kangaroos jumping outside a faux Bavarian farmstead? A petting zoo and free beer on the same premises? It may lack a certain coherence, but families wisely continue to flock to the whimsical collision of attractions that make up Grant’s Farm (10501 Gravois Road; 314-843-1700). Part zoo, part historical site, part living infomercial for Anheuser-Busch, the 281-acre park is open for another season of deer, beer and cheer. Admission and all animal shows are free, although parking is $8 per vehicle. Make sure you check the park hours at www.grantsfarm.com or call ahead first -- operating hours fluctuate throughout the summer.
Tuesdays-Sundays; Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: May 15. Continues through Oct. 28, 2007
