The name Appleseed Cast suggests thespians specializing in patriotic musical theater, but it's probably a drug reference. On 2001's overlong, overblown and overachieving dual albums, Low Level Owl, Vol. 1 and Low Level Owl, Vol. 2, the Lawrence, Kansas, band sounded before and behind the times, a little early for the My Morning Jacket and Band of Horses bandwagon, and a little late for a Radiohead tour. Last year's Sagarmatha managed to be psych-heavy and jangly acoustic, and as dense and pretty as an Explosions in the Sky jam. If those allusions haven't already set your head spinning, take a long hit, hold it and get ready for the loudest post-rock show at Off Broadway — a performance of both Low Level Owl albums — since the last time the band hit town.
