Art Music of the Ancient Silk Road

The Chapel - St. Louis' Santuary of the Arts - hosts Chris Stephens, the World Musician, who will treat attentive listeners to the amazing sounds of historic instruments from the Middle East, Persia, India, and China; collectively known as the Silk Road. His instruments are the Sitar, Arabic Oud, Chinese Pipa, and Iranian Tar, each representing a region of the vast Asian continent. Chris performs these instruments according to their traditional modal music systems using improvisation woven into composition.
