It's safe to say that the almost-lost art of burlesque can be taken off the endangered list, at least in St. Louis. You can find a burlesque show almost any weekend in any number of venues — its current popularity may outstrip that of its glory days. How far has the bump and grind come the past few years? Lola Van Ella's Show-Me Burlesque Festival returns for a second year with more performers hailing from more exotic locales doing five shows in three nights (Thursday, May 12, through Saturday, May 14) at multiple venues throughout the city — and Friday night's show goes down at the prestigious Sheldon Concert Hall (3648 Washington Boulevard; The Sheldon show will be accompanied by a live band and stars twenty gorgeous performers hailing from LA, Chicago and right here in St. Louis — don't miss New Orleans' Perle Noire (pictured) presenting her tribute to burlesque legend Josephine Baker. Friday's show starts at 9 p.m., and single tickets are $20 to $30; there are various ticket packages available for $50 to $100 that include admission to multiple shows and various extras.
