True story: One very conscientious granddaughter/daughter had an inspired idea for Mother's Day last year: Treat her nana and mama to an evening of family togetherness, featuring a dinner out and tickets to the Stages St. Louis production of Always...Patsy Cline. At the time, the granddaughter/daughter was commended for her gift-giving abilities -- so thoughtful! So lovely! But when it came time to purchase tickets (on a mutually agreeable date, of course), the show was so very sold out. She was able to somewhat salvage the bonding experience, but it just wasn't the same without Ms. Patsy and the story of her friendship with Louise Seger, a housewife in Texas. However, there is a bright side to this cautionary tale: Stages St. Louis has brought Alway...Patsy Cline back! The musical, with 27 Patsy hits, will be presented on the Playhouse at Westport Plaza stage (635 Westport Plaza, Maryland Heights) from Tuesday, April 22, to Sunday, August 31. Shows are at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, at 4 and 8 p.m. on Saturday, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday (including Mother's Day!). Tickets cost $53 to $63; visit www.stagesstlouis.org to make a purchase. In mid-September, Always...Patsy Cline returns for one last hurrah. The show is performed at 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 4 and 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday (September 18 through October 12).
Tuesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 4 & 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m.; June 18-20, 8 p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 4 & 8 p.m.; Sundays, 2 p.m. Starts: April 22. Continues through Oct. 12, 2014
