In pop culture even something as mundane and essential as school is glamorized, from the fashionable halls of private schools in Gossip Girl to the shenanigans of Fast Times at Ridgemont High to the wealthy's second chances in Billy Madison and Back to School. But just getting to school with the necessary supplies is a struggle for many children in St. Louis. Join Isaiah 58 Ministries for a Back to School Fair, where kids can get necessary provisions, including free backpacks with school supplies, free haircuts provided by Leonard's Barber College (call 314-776-1410 in advance to schedule an appointment), nutritional handouts and more. The fair takes place from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Compton Heights Christian Church (2149 South Grand Avenue) on Thursday, August 9.
