Baseball, Baby Bears and Beer

The St. Louis Cardinals and Chicago Cubs have already met twice in this still-fresh season, with mixed results. The Birds won its home series two games to one, and the Cubs took two of three at Wrigley. Today at 12:45 p.m. the rivals wrap up a four-game set at Busch Stadium (Broadway and Poplar Street; 314-345-9600 or www.stlcardinals.com). At press time, there's no way of knowing which team has the upper hand, but come on -- there are no bad victories over the Cubs. And besides, these weekday games are the stuff summer dreams are made of. Ditching work to go to the ballpark for a three-dog/four-beer lunch is an American right of passage, and you won't see too many more of them this year. Tickets for today's game are $20.80 to $230.80.
