A suburban sports arena may seem like a sub-optimal venue for experiencing two blues giants, but don't let the location deter you. They're just not making 'em like B.B. King and Buddy Guy anymore, and so an opportunity to see and hear either man — let alone both at the same show — is one any blues fan ought to seize. Now 84, King still tours frequently, but who knows for how long? His show mostly recaps his well-known hits, but his signature guitar tone still resonates, and his presence still inspires. A decade younger, Guy is more difficult to predict. He's a volcanic guitarist and energetic showman with a tendency to play whatever pops into his head at the moment, thus providing a spontaneous improvisational contrast to King's well-rehearsed familiarity.
