Beach Blanket Bloodbath

If you've long fantasized about lifting Jason Voorhees out of Camp Crystal Lake and depositing him and his trusty machete onto Bikini Beach alongside Frankie and Annette, Stray Dog Theatre has got just the ticket for you. Charles Busch's Psycho Beach Party is a madcap mash-up of '60s surfer flicks and '80s slasher films. Chicklet Forrest just wants to be part of the popular surfer crowd, but she could really be popular on her own; she has multiple personalities, so she's her own crowd. Unfortunately some of her other personae are more violent and ambitious than others, which makes friends scarce -- and scared. Catch the sun, sand, surf and slaughter at 8 p.m. Thursday through Saturday (February 7 through 23) at Tower Grove Abbey (2336 Tennessee Avenue; 314-865-1995 or www.straydogtheatre.org). Admission is $18 to $20.
Thursdays-Saturdays. Starts: Feb. 7. Continues through Feb. 23, 2013
