Beer, Glorious Beer!

Drink to the health of the kids

What’s that you say? You’re weary of pounding the PBR, and your taste buds need a revival? Then head over to the St. Louis Microfest in Forest Park, a combination celebration of the brewer’s art and a fundraiser for Lift for Life Gym. From 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday, June 6, you can sample international beers and cuisine; from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, it’s all about the domestic craft beer. Your admission fee ($20 to $30 on Friday, $25 to $35 for Saturday or buy the “two-day passport” for $50 to $60) gains you a two-ounce tasting glass that you can have filled by any of the 50 participating breweries. (Please note that even if you buy the large commemorative Microfest glass, you still receive just the two-ounce sample.) If the fruit of the vine is more your style, wine tasting is available in the Wine & Spirits Demo Tent, and a Craft-Soda Tent showcasing ginger ales and root and birch beers is open for kids or those with a sweet tooth. Trombone Shorty & the Orleans Avenue Band, Hudson & the HooDoo Cats and Earl provide the music, and concessions from area restaurants round out the Microfest experience. Even leashed dogs are welcome! For more information call 314-436-2337 or visit www.stlmicrofest.org.
