What with the Shakespeare Festival in the spring, fireworks and film series in the summer and the symphony concerts in the fall, there are plenty of picnic-perfect events scheduled on or near Art Hill throughout the year. Shove off in a paddle boat from the Boathouse, and take it all in from the water. Or simply sprawl on a blanket beneath the iconic statue of King Louis IX, watch the clouds pass overhead and admire the view of the park above the treetops, the beautiful fountains and Post-Dispatch Lake. Even in winter, a thermos full of hot chocolate and cookies is the perfect refuel for a day of coasting down what is also one of the best sledding spots in town.
