Bizarre Love Triangle

Fear and loathing in Paris

Strap on your cancan dancing shoes for a free outdoor viewing of Moulin Rouge! Tonight at 9 p.m., Baz Luhrmann's loud and lovely Oscar-winning spectacle glitters on a twenty-foot blow-up screen as part of Grand Center's Cinemania. Gather with lawn chairs and blankets at the open lot located on Washington Boulevard (between North Grand Boulevard and North Spring Avenue; or 314-289-1591) for a true midsummer night's acid trip — where pop songs originally sung by Marilyn Monroe and Nirvana suddenly become relevant in an 1899 Parisian nightclub. The musical follows the life of a penniless poet (Ewan McGregor) who falls for a sultry courtesan (Nicole Kidman) during a series of misunderstandings in a giant, jewel-encrusted elephant. Comedy, tragedy and a rather strange rendition of "Like a Virgin" ensue. Popcorn, sweets and nonalcoholic refreshments will be available throughout the spectacular show.
