Black Lagoon Beauty

Actress Julie Adams' appearance in her iconic one-piece bathing suit sent many hearts aflutter in the 1950's classic, Creature from the Black Lagoon. In the beloved Universal monster movie's most famous scene, Julie decides to go for a quick dip, unaware that the Gil-Man lurks below. As she swims along, the love-struck creature cautiously mirrors her movements, building up the nerve to reach out and touch her. Tonight the Friends of the Wildey Theatre group celebrates the 60th anniversary of the film by rolling out the red carpet for none other than Julie Adams herself, who will appear in person at a screening of Creature From The Black Lagoon at the Wildey Theatre (254 North Main Street, Edwardsville, Illinois; As an extra special treat, cocktails and specialty cupcakes will be available for purchase at the event as Adams answers fan questions, shares stories from the set and signs autographs.
