Midwestern emo forefathers the Get Up Kids reunited in 2008, which meant that guitarist/vocalist Jim Suptic put his post-TGUK band, the supremely awesome Americana-rock band Blackpool Lights, on the back burner. His day job toured the world and recorded a new full-length, There Are Rules, which is out in January — so color us both surprised and stoked to find out that Suptic also found the time to resuscitate BPL. A new digital EP is due out later this month — and if it's anything like the group's 2006 full-length, This Town's Disaster, expect tasty guitar rock indebted to Tom Petty, the Replacements and other classic troubadours of the '80s and '90s. Emo it isn't — but awesome it most definitely is.
