Bob Nanna & Mark Rose

8 p.m. Monday, October 11. The Firebird, 2706 Olive Street.

Few companies have matched the crowdsourcing success of the Chicago-based online clothing store Threadless. People submit T-shirt designs, other people vote on them, and the winning designs go into production, with the winner getting cash and (smartly) a gift certificate to the Threadless store. To celebrate the tenth anniversary of being an Internet start-up that actually worked, Threadless recruited two of emo's finest (and far-too-overlooked) songwriters to hit the road and spread the gospel — or at least give away free swag: Bob Nanna (formerly of Braid/Hey Mercedes) and Mark Rose (formerly of Spitalfield). (It probably wasn't hard to get Nanna to commit, seeing as how he's been a Threadless employee for much of the decade; he once cranked out insanely addictive jingles for individual shirts on a near-daily basis.) Expect to hear some of each songwriter's classics interspersed with the requisite new material, but even if that doesn't float your boat, remember: Free swag!
