Can You Dig It?

Warriors come out and play

Mar 1, 2006 at 4:00 am
Winter too cold for ya? Then get over to the Schlafly Bottleworks (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood) for a screening of Walter Hill's cult-classic The Warriors. The streets sizzle in this film about a small New York gang fighting its way back home to Coney Island after being wrongly accused of killing the only man who could unite all of Gotham's rival gangs. It's not just the ultra-violence (well, for 1979 anyway) that gives this flick staying power — it's the fun performances, the thematically unified gangs (the Baseball Furies, the all-girl Lizzies) and totally hysterical dialogue. And the famous bottles-on-the-fingers scene is completely kickin', so skip the pitcher and order by the bottle. Call 314-241-2337 or check out www.schlafly.com for your information fix. Admission is $4; the film starts at 8 p.m. And blast Thin Lizzy all the way to Maplewood so you're extra-amped.
