On November 30, 2021, St. Louis–born Josephine Baker will become the first Black woman and first entertainer to receive France’s highest honor by being laid to rest in the Panthéon monument in Paris.
On this occasion, the Major of St. Louis, Tishaura Jones, and Consul General of France in Chicago will come to Washington University in St. Louis along with a delegation.
On that day on our campus, our St. Louis community will be able to watch the ceremony in Paris live on a large screen, and attend a round-table discussion and enjoy performances that will take place.
