Christmas Dreams

The heads of children are stuffed with Christmas dreams this time of year, but none of 'em dream bigger than little Clara. When her uncle gives her a nutcracker for Christmas, Clara dreams of an adventure that she and her new friend share. The Nutcracker becomes a valiant prince, and Clara is his leading lady as they journey through a world of a malevolent rodent king and other fairy-tale elements. Clara and her prince triumph and are crowned rulers of the realm by the Sugar Plum Fairy -- and when Clara wakes up the next morning, she finds a crown by her side. Was it all really a dream? The Missouri Ballet Theatre presents The Nutcracker at 7:30 p.m. Friday, 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 and 6 p.m. Sunday (December 20 through 22) at the Edison Theatre on Washington University's campus (6445 Forsyth Boulevard; 314-935-6543 or www.missouriballettheatre.org). Tickets are $25 to $40.
