Closer to Vine

Wine and art make a great pair

Ms. Day always has a good time at the Art Fair at Laumeier Sculpture Park (12580 Rott Road, Sunset Hills; 314-821-1209 or www.laumeier.org) — and how could she not? With all the booths of beautiful artistry (that's Tony Cray's work pictured) at the foot of some enormous sculptures, it's difficult not to have fun (and buy a bunch of stuff). The only things that would make this art sale any more enjoyable would be sips and sips of wine. So to indulge herself and get the most out of the three-day fair this year, Day is heading there on the opening night (Friday, May 9) to check out the wares and the Art of the Vine party. This one-night-only wine-tasting event costs $12 to attend (in addition to your regular art-fair admission), and it includes unlimited samples from 6 to 9 p.m. and two performance-art pieces by Tom Brady. The festival continues all weekend through Sunday, May 11; entrance costs $5 to $8, and advance tickets are available through www.ticketmaster.com.
