For those people who have long been tired of winter's monochromatic palette, spring's arrival brings relief in its riot of flora — and also a BandTogether concert. St. Louis' volunteer GLBTA concert band celebrates its twelfth anniversary in a performance entitled With Flying Colors, a selection of color-themed classical and popular music. And in the spirit of the season's profligacy, the band breaks out into smaller groups of musicians to display a wide range of styles and instruments. A flute concerto is on tap, as is the rarely seen brass-and-bagpipe ensemble. And for a dash more polychromism, the BandTogether Colorguard performs as well. With Flying Colors takes place at 8 p.m. at the 560 Music Center (560 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-968-5939 or www.bandtogetherstl.com). Admission is free, but donations will be gratefully accepted. Consider it a show of gratitude for a splash of much-needed color.
