Come Together

Feel the internationalism

With the interminable "Where'd ya go to high school?" questions, it can be easy to see St. Louis as a bit provincial. But global consciousness thrives in small pockets around town, and Club Viva! (408 North Euclid Avenue), which often hosts live Latin and reggae music, has long been a hub of cross-cultural activity in the Central West End. The club's International Fridays feature a rotating cast of world music via live bands and DJs, and this week local reggae group Dubtronix, led by DJ Ranx (pictured), holds court starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 at the door, and the event is a joint fundraiser for the International Institute of St. Louis and KDHX (88.1 FM).
