Kwanzaa, which begins each year on December 26, is a celebration of culture, family and community, and what better place to unite all three elements than the Saint Louis Art Museum in Forest Park (314-721-0072 or www.slam.org). During the free Art After 5: Celebrate Kwanzaa! event, families can come together and join in with other community members to commemorate Kwanzaa, with the help of Kreative Pandemonium, a local performing ensemble that skillfully honors the music and dances of West Africa with plenty of drumming and energy and then some. The performance happens at 7 p.m., but the museum is open until 9 p.m., as it is every Friday, so you'll have plenty of time to also check out the new addition and current exhibitions.
