Comedic Construction

When the three little pigs built their houses, one was made of straw, another of twigs and the third of bricks. But what ever became of the house of blue leaves? Find out at the Little Theatre (1 Mark Twain Circle, Clayton), where Stray Dog Theatre unleashes The House of Blue Leaves Thursday through Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. (July 13 through 30). Unfortunately for fans of swine, this play (written by John Guare, yes, of Six Degrees of Separation) is set in a New York City apartment in 1965 during a papal visit — and the dwelling doesn't shelter any pigs, or wolves. But Blue Leaves does offer plenty of other odd characters, including a zookeeper/aspiring songwriter, a pack of nuns, Bunny the girlfriend and Bananas the wife, all of whom wreak havoc on each other's concepts of the American Dream. Intrigued? For more information visit www.straydogtheatre.org; call 314-865-1995 to reserve tickets, which cost $15 to $18. At each performance, canned goods will be collected for Food Outreach.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: July 13. Continues through July 30
