Great Godfrey Maze, you've outdone yourself this year! Last year's safari theme was cool and the cowboy maze of '07 was certainly tricky, but how you've grown your corn stalks into the shape of a knight on a horse with a castle in the distance for this year's fall fun is completely beyond us! There must be something special in that Godfrey water, that's all we have to say. Well, that and we're looking forward to traipsing through your more than two miles of trails in honor of your tenth anniversary. We will, of course, be out at Glazebrook Park (1401 Stamper Lane, Godfrey, Illinois; 618-466-1483 or www.greatgodfreymaze.com) at 6 p.m. for your opening night — that's Friday, September 4 — during which we'll be some of the first folks to maze it up ($4 to $6). Then, we'll try to sit still during The Tale of Despereaux, which will be screened outdoors in honor of the big day (BYO lawn chairs or blankets), but the whole time we'll probably be wishing that we could take wing and get a really good overhead view of this A-maze-ing Quest, as your theme is called this year. Alas, we can dream, right, corn maze? And, hey, congrats on the big anniversary!
Fridays-Sundays; Mon., Sept. 7. Starts: Sept. 4. Continues through Oct. 31, 2009
