Dance Dance Celebration

The dance community in St. Louis isn't huge, to be sure, but it's certainly a dedicated, tight-knit group, one that continually produces thoughtful, interesting perspectives on the art form. At tonight's dance concert, held from 6 to 9 p.m. at Centro Modern Furnishings (4727 McPherson Avenue), you'll see some of that dedication along with a fair amount of uniqueness — after all, the performance is staged in the nontraditional setting of a furniture store, a super-cool furniture store but still an unusual spot for dance. This evening of performance is designed to showcase and honor the work of Beckah Voigt Reed, a long-time contributor to the St. Louis dance community and our overall modern dance conversation. Other ANNONYArts performers offer their respect through movement during the night, including Nicki Tipton Tallent, Tom Brady and Dawn Karlovsky. While all of that's going on, the Fountain on Locust serves up bites to eat, and the neighboring Vino Gallery offers wine tastings, making for a delightful celebration for all who choose to come to the party. Tickets to the performance cost $35 each ($60 for two) and are available at the door. Learn more at www.aarts2011.eventbrite.com.
