Your typical book-signings feature quiet murmurs of approval and an occasional golf clap; they are lovely events but are usually a bit nap-tastic. Fortunately, Tom Obermeier intends to improve on this model and shake things up a bit -- literally (ha!). A dance instructor and author, Obermeier wrote The Dance Teacher, and he signs his new tome at the Just Dancing Ballroom Dance Studio (236 Old Meramec Station Road, Manchester). But in addition to his putting pen to paper, he’ll also teach half-hour group classes in cha-cha, salsa and Balboa-Swing. And you don’t even need a partner! The book-signing portion of the evening is free, and the dance instruction costs $3. For more information call the studio at 636-227-7202 or visit The event runs from 6:30 to 10:30 p.m.
