Denim and Diamonds 3, featuring Willie Nelson & Family

Friday, September 16; the Pageant (6161 Delmar Boulevard)

When you're a household name among farmers, stoners and pretty much everyone else, you don't have to try too hard anymore. But fortunately for his fans, Willie Nelson still does. Copious smoke and a whiskey river haven't slowed the 72-year-old, who's known for giving state-fair attendees and club crowds an epic show mixing classics and newer tunes. Fresh off a reggae album -- no kidding -- and acting in the Dukes of Hazzard movie, Nelson still finds time to lend his legendary warble and guitar-picking to worthy causes, be they tsunami or hurricane relief or this benefit performance for the Saint Louis University Liver Center and the Julia Spears Foundation for Liver Disease (which is named for the wife of Nelson's bass player).

Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are $85 (limited seating); call 314-726-6161 for more information.
