This coming weekend (Saturday and Sunday, July 21 and 22) the City-Wide Open Studios tour happens, when artists across the metro area open their studios to the public; it’s a meet-and-greet for the artistic elite, don’t you know. But thanks to St. Louis’ thriving arts scene, there’s an abundance of stops on the tour that you might want to hit. To help you plan your own best route, the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (3750 Washington Boulevard; 314-535-4660 or www.contemporarystl.org) hosts a free City-Wide Preview Exhibition on Tuesday, July 17, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each artist has one piece in the show, so simply pick up a map at the Contemporary’s front desk and circle the names and studios of the artists that catch your fancy -- instant weekend itinerary. It’s like OnStar for art.
