It is easy to understand your confusion, but Speaking of Fibers 2013 is not a symposium on the digestive benefits of fiber consumption. Rather, it is a curated exhibition of more than 40 works by members of the Missouri Fiber Artists organization. This show runs the gamut of fiber techniques; included are baskets, quilts, weavings, knits and various paper-making methods. Traditional methods are included as well as newer practices, and each artist has developed work that challenges the viewer to look at fiber arts in a new way. Speaking of Fibers opens Friday, August 23, at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art (3663 Lindell Boulevard, 314-977-3399, www.slu.edu/sluma), and remains up through Sunday, October 6. The gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Aug. 23. Continues through Oct. 6, 2013
