Diggy Simmons

6 p.m. Sunday, January 29. The Pageant, 6161 Delmar Boulevard.

Roughly six months after the final season of MTV's reality show Run's House wrapped in 2009, Daniel "Diggy" Simmons (then fourteen) released the mixtape The First Flight on his blog. In the time since, Diggy's efforts have earned him a deal with Atlantic Records and recognition as one of the industry's most promising prospects. Whether or not Diggy can climb out of the sizable shadow cast by his father and uncle (Rev Run and Russell Simmons) remains to be seen, but pop-friendly singles like "Copy, Paste" and "Mrs. Right" are doing well for young Mr. Simmons, hitting every hallmark of the genre's modern chart-toppers.

Reccommended If You Like: Saying "I saw so-and-so before he made it big." The odds are stacked handily in Diggy's favor.
