Disney's Beauty and the Beast

The creative staff at the Muny take their responsibilities as stewards for the future of theater in St. Louis seriously -- the "family show" in every year's schedule is proof of that. This year's show for the kids is the always-popular Disney's Beauty and the Beast, based on the 1991 animated film. The music by Alan Menken and Tim Rice is beloved by children, so you already know your kids will find something they love in it. Factor in Lumiere's Gallic charm and the maternal common sense of Mrs. Potts and you have a swell first trip to the theater. Disney's Beauty and the Beast plays at 8:15 p.m. nightly (July 29 through August 7) at the Muny in Forest Park (314-361-1900 or www.muny.org). Tickets are $14 to $87.
