Dive Deep Into Life

For weeks, the Webster Film Series has invited film fans to dive deep into the oeuvre of filmmaker Wes Anderson with screenings of Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums, but there is no better example of Anderson's unique quirk than The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. Bill Murray plays the title character (an homage to the late French diving pioneer Jacques Cousteau) who assembles a ragtag crew to hunt down the elusive jaguar shark, which Murray claims devoured his partner. The film also stars Owen Wilson, Cate Blanchett, Anjelica Huston, Willem Dafoe and Bud Cort as the "bond company stooge." The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou screens at 8 p.m. tonight in Webster University's Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries). Admission is $5 to $6.
