This is the worst time of year for procrastinators. You're bombarded with messages about shopping for gifts, countdowns till the big day, Christmas specials urging you to give the perfect gift, bizarre suggestions and hints from loved ones — it takes a Herculean effort to ignore all of those reminders and just continue pretending like you have all the time in the world. Don't consider this another reminder to get to work on your Christmas list, but instead some helpful advice: Gifted, the art show and sale at phd Gallery (2300 Cherokee Street; 314-664-6644 or www.phdstl.com), is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday (December 5 and 6), and it remains accessible Thursday through Sunday through Sunday, January 3. That means you can procrastinate for one whole Saturday and still make it this Sunday, or indulge your do-nothing fantasy and procrastinate for a month of Saturdays. Nice, eh? But if you go on opening weekend, not only do you get first crack at the "recession-friendly" priced painting, jewelry, photography, scrimshaw and limited-edition prints from artists such as Mark Weber, Jimmy Liu, Michelle Ochonicky and Polly Saputo, you can also partake of the Cherokee Antique Row Cookie Spree. That's right — free cookies at participating neighborhood venues while you browse. It might be enough to make you shift your procrastination priorities, just this once. Admission is free.
Thursdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 5. Continues through Jan. 3, 2009
