Dress Up for A Monster Mash

This time of year the mere mention of Rankin/Bass brings to mind the production company's series of stop-motion animated Christmas specials such Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer and Santa Claus Is Comin' to Town. But tonight at 7 p.m., one of Rankin/Bass' most fondly remembered cult classics is at the center of a Mad Monster Costume Party in Schlafly Bottleworks' Crown Room (7260 Southwest Avenue, Maplewood; www.afilmseries.com). The Mad Monster Party features stop-motion puppet versions of all the great monsters, with the late, great Boris Karloff voicing Baron von Frankenstein, while Phyllis Diller puts words in the mouth of the Bride Of Frankenstein. Dress as your favorite monster, and you may win a copy of the film. All ages are welcome and the suggested ticket price is $6. Proceeds go toward the cultural diversity project, Helping Kids Together.
