Eatin' Good in the Neighborhood

Switch your belly into feast mode because this year's Taste of Clayton is sure to outdo any buffet event you've attended thus far. The sixteenth annual samplefest (314-290-8474 or gets going at 1:30 p.m. when loads of area eateries — from Araka to Zuzu's Handmade Mexican Food — begin serving up their best dishes. The savory smells will waft throughout Shaw Park (South Brentwood and Forsyth boulevards, Clayton) until 7:30 p.m., and you'll be delighted when the sounds of local music acts (Charles Glenn at 3 and 6 p.m., Fanfare at 1:30 and 4:30 p.m., and Groovethang at 6:30 p.m.) drown out some of the crunching and munching. The Taste Jr. provides options for pint-sized foodies from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m., and Taste Too leaves the best for last with desserts from Hank's Cheesecakes, Ted Drewes and others being served beginning at 6:30 p.m. Finish all this off with a fireworks display at 9 p.m., and you've got yourself a delicious good time! Tickets are priced at $1.25 each, with samples costing from one to four tickets; admission is free.
