The Mac & Cheese Throwdown is serious business. Some of the city's best chefs go head-to-head in a melty-cheesy smackdown. The winner is selected by the lucky crowd that gets unlimited samples of one of the world's best dishes.
This year's throwdown was on Saturday, November 12, at the
Moto Museum (3441 Olive Street, 314-446-1805) and the winner this year is
Doggie Mac's by Chef B (5622 South Grand Boulevard, 314-326-4221). The restaurant is known for its all beef hot dogs and delicious topping, as well as its Granma's Baked Mac and Cheese.
This was not an easy win, because competition was fierce. Other restaurants at the event included 314 Social, The Blue Duck, BEAST Craft BBQ, Bob's Drive-In, Love At First Bite, Hogtown Smokehouse, The Crooked Boot, Salt + Smoke, Navin’s BBQ, The Midwestern, A Mouse in the House Charcuterie, SandwichKingz, Wheelhouse, Sam's CLub, SuperSmokers BBQ + Cajun, Ott's Tavern, Taco Drip and Seamus McDaniel's. In addition to an unlimited mac and cheese buffet, the event also included an open bar, tunes from DJ Mahf and full access to the Moto Museum. Plus, part of the proceeds for the event went toward the
River City Journalism Fund, an organization dedicated to investing in local journalism.
