As part of the University Libraries Faculty Book Talk series, Douglas B. Dowd, professor of art and American culture studies at Washington University and faculty director of the D.B. Dowd Modern Graphic History Library (DMGHL), will discuss his book "Stick Figures: Drawing as a Human Practice". In the book, Dowd examines the ancient practice of drawing and proposes that it can serve as a tool for learning and communication for everyone. A rich exploration of the artifacts of drawing—mainly illustrations and cartoons—the book features 100 images, including works from the collections at the DMGHL.
