Father John Misty is the new incarnation of Josh Tillman, singer/songwriter and former member of the folk pop harmonizers, Fleet Foxes. After putting out a handful of studio albums under the J. Tillman moniker, he ditched the name and transformed into Father John Misty. On Misty's "debut," Fear Fun, one has to wonder if the title — and artwork for that matter — is Tillman's acknowledgment of getting over the fear of incorporating "fun" into his music. The stories are unreliable and comical. And the music can be described as upbeat, piano-heavy Laurel Canyon folk with a Paul McCartney-esque bounce.
Listomania: Fear Fun made its way onto practically every single top ten list created for 2012. It's time to see what all the fuss is about, St. Louis.
