Feel the Beat

They're tapping it out

Adult dance classes are filled with a host of characters. There are your still-living-the-dream serious types, your skilled dancers who encourage their classmates, your timid and shy people who can't break out of their shells, and so on. In other words, it's kind of like your office but with more jazz hands. The characters in the British comedy Stepping Out are no exception. Each week a ragtag bunch shuffles down to a church basement in London to receive instruction from an enthusiastic teacher on the finer points of tap-dancing. Throughout the comedy the individual personalities come out — as do the students' inner talents. Webster University's Conservatory of Theatre Arts presents Stepping Out at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and at 2 p.m. on Sunday (December 3 through 14) at the Stage III Theatre in Webster Hall (470 East Lockwood Avenue). Admission costs $6 to $12; learn more by calling 314-968-7128.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Dec. 3. Continues through Dec. 14, 2008
