Feel the Chill

Snowmen get dealt a pretty tough hand. With a limited life span, no clothing save for scarves and hats, and lonely nights out in the wind, it's no wonder that every now and again, one of these perma-cheery friends turns that grin into a grimace. And that's when things get ugly. The world's balance of cantankerous vs. cheerful is tipped, and we've got a freezing-cold mess on our hands. What we need to do now, before the weather really turns, is figure out how to help the snowmen manage their anger issues — and at the same time, learn a little something about our own crabbiness, too. Catching a performance of Snowman's Revenge ought to help. This children's play, presented by Piwacket Theatre for Children, will help us all start the sometimes-tense holiday season on the right note, and with a run time of 45 minutes, the play is just the right length for the little ones among us. The educational show is staged at the Black Cat Theatre (2810 Sutton Boulevard, Maplewood; 314-781-8300 or www.blackcattheatre.org) at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and 11 a.m. Saturday (December 2 through 11); tickets cost $12.
Thursdays, Saturdays. Starts: Dec. 2. Continues through Dec. 11, 2010
