Fine China

Come on, it's spectacular

Not enough performing groups refer to their own shows as “a spectacular” anymore. So right off the bat, the Divine Performing Arts Chinese Spectacular has piqued the interest. And in this instance, that descriptor is well-earned. Combining more than 5,000 years of Chinese culture with the latest in audio-visual technology, the Divine Performing Arts dazzles audiences with dozens of tightly-choreographed ethnic and historic dances, brilliant solo and ensemble performances on traditional Chinese instruments, a battalion of massive drums that run the length of the stage and an ever-shifting digital backdrop that provides scenery and simulated fire works. That’s entertainment! The Divine Performing Arts blows your mind at 7 p.m. Wednesday and 8 p.m. Thursday (April 30 and May 1) at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-4949 or Tickets are $28 to $88.
