It's been a long, ridiculous year — but tonight, it ends. Kick 2009 out the door by visiting Wonderland, First Night-Saint Louis' big takeover of Grand Center (North Grand and Lindell boulevards; www.firstnightstl.org). The family-friendly, alcohol-free event features a host of indoor and outdoor activities, including musical performances (yes, there's a Michael Jackson tribute planned), a special show by Circus Flora in the Scottish Rite auditorium and the return of Lazer Vaudeville's glow-in-the-dark juggling spectacular. Fans of more intimate entertainment should check out Chris Jones' Star Wars in a Box, the Magic Smoking Monkey veteran's one-man version of the Star Wars trilogy (original flavor, not the more recent one), while those of you who enjoy a really big show should be sure to check out both fireworks displays (at 9 p.m. and midnight). Concessions are handled by street vendors, and new this year is the Mad Hatter Café, a hot-drinks-and-sweets establishment in the location of the former Wm. Shakespeare's Gastropub. Admission to Wonderland is $4 to $10.
